Changing Sales Tax for out of state trade show.

Hey all. I'll be doing my first ever trade show in a different state at the end of this month. I normally do shows in New York, but this time ill be setting up shop in Connecticut, so I'll have to track and charge sales tax for this show separately. But at first glance, the only way I can see to change the sales tax being collected to to manually change it for every item, and I certainly don't have time to do that for this show, and especially for every show ill be doing in the future.

Is there a quicker way to track out of state sales tax for a one off event?

@RBTGames2020 You can change it at the account level by going to your online dashboard -> Account & Settings -> Sales taxes.  You’ll want to disable your current sales taxes by selecting those, then Actions -> Disable tax.  Then enter CT’s tax rate, label it as such, and enable it once you are at the show.  Then when you return home, you’ll have to disable CT and reenable your state’s.  Wash, rinse, repeat for every state you go to.

You probably realize that, depending on the number of states you are going to, this could become a nightmare.  The nightmare is compounded by the fact that you have to have sales tax accounts with each state, use their forms, etc.  So, for multi-state operations there are lots of 3rd party sales tax compliance apps in the Square App Marketplace.  These are used by most retailers who ship/sell in multiple states to ensure that they stay legal. Go to the App Marketplace and search for “sales tax.”  A list, including TaxJar and Davo, will come up.  I always recommend using one of these to help you stay out of tax trouble!
