Category and Item Reports

We are a Chamber of Commerce and sell local items to visitors.  Sort of a consignment set up.  We have each vendor set up as a "Category" and each thing they sell as an "item" under that category.  Everything is put in and saved along with how much of each item is in the inventory.  Each month we send a check to the vendor for what they have sold.  I want to send a report too that shows what items they have sold.  The only way I can seem to make it work is to display each item individually, or to show a total for the vendor.  As in they sold 6 items for $100.  But it won't show what the 6 items were.  Or I can get it to show they sold 1 item for $10.  But then I have to print off 6 of those.  Is there any way to print a report that shows "Vendor A sold these 6 items, and list the name of each item"?

Hi there, @SubletteChamber! Welcome to the Seller Community 👋 We are glad you decided to reach out here! I think this space will prove helpful in trying to find unique ideas to grow your business with Square, and I will do my best here to help with your Reporting inquiries 📈

I appreciate you giving so much context to how you currently set up your vendors! The more details we have, the better we are able to assist - and your post is very thorough.

Based off of my interpretation of what you have described, the Items Reports may be your best bet in displaying how many of a certain item has been sold individually. This report shows details for all items sold including gross sales, net sales, SKUs, discounts, and total sold. You can use advanced reporting options to display item sales by device, employee, or payment method. You can click an item in your report to see an item drilldown – including specific sales info on that item and all its variations.

You may even find it beneficial to move your Vendors from listed as Categories and instead list them individual items (depending on if each Vendor only has one item to sell). I suggest this because the Category Report is helpful, but it does not give you a specific item breakdown - just the number of individual items sold.

I will also suggest tinkering with the Custom Reports template from your Reporting Tab, as well. This tool can help you create and tailor a report to your exact specifications.

I hope this is a good 'jumping-off' point to point you in the right direction! Let me know if you have an clarifying questions - we are here to help.

I do sort of the same, consignment sales.  I find the column for gross and net sales too small if they sell over $100  have you had the same issue and did you solve it?
