Can you print an open ticket before taking a payment?

Is there a way to print open tickets to give to customers prior to taking payment??

To do this you'll need to enable a setting in the Printers section of the app on your tablet first:

  1. Sign in to the POS app and navigate to Settings.
  2. Scroll down > tap Printers
  3. Toggle the switch next to enable Receipts, Bills, Reports Open Cash Drawers.

With this enabled you'll have now see the option to print a bill to give to your customers. To do this:

  1. From the Checkout section of the app tap Tickets (to see all of your open tickets) > tap Edit in the upper right.
  2. You'll see a list of options > select Print Bill.
  3. A copy of the items on the ticket will be printed.

You'll also be able to print a bill if you open a ticket and tap the drop down arrow in the upper right. You'll the list of options and you can select Print Bill.

This reply created from merging an existing thread: "how do I print out the item stub before they pay?" The author has been notified via email.

 

We are trying to make it easier for our baristas to make orders... unfortunately, the ticket stub doesn't print out until after the customer has paid but we would like the stub to be printed out when the order is sent... how do we do that?

Hello,

I need to print checks/bills before actually receiving the payment from the customer, we are a restaurant. I can only print a receipt once the customer pays or after if he requires it, but I don’t know how to print the check for a table before asking the actual payment.

We use the Square register. Even after I've activated the printer for all receipts, bills, etc. I don't see the option anywhere to print a ticket prior to charging the customer. Is the method different for the Square Register?

Are you able to see these options when viewing your Open Tickets?

  1. From the Checkout section of the app tap Tickets (to see all of your open tickets) > tap Edit in the upper right.
  2. You'll see a list of options > select Print Bill.
  3. A copy of the items on the ticket will be printed.

If not, you may still need to enable Open Tickets on your Square Register:

  1. From the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen

  2. Tap Settings > Open Tickets.

  3. Tap Open Tickets and toggle the feature on.

On the checkout screen on the Square Register there is no button anywhere for Tickets or to Print Bill.

 

There is no settings option for Tickets anywhere on the Square Register. Can you please send a screenshot from the Square Register or help enable this option? I've searched every settings sub section available.
