Can you arrange items within categories?

Hello,

We are a coopertive artist association. Each artist is listed as a Category. Items are then assigned to each Artist/Category. When we sell an Item, we first choose the Artist/Categoy, then the item from the list that appears. This all works just fine,

EXCEPT that we need to see the receipts reflect the Artist/Category and the Item. Otherwise, we do not know which Artist/Category gets the credit for sale of her/his Item.  HELP.

So how can I set up the Sales/Checkout screen to accommodate this information that we need??

    Thank you

Sorry. That's the wrong question. Question is: Can we record both Category AND Item on the sales receipt at POS so that we can see it on the Dashboard reports??

thanks,

Hello @FremontGallery, you can download your Item Detail CSV from your Item Sales tab. From there, you'll be able to reference under which category each item was sold for any given timeline. Does that help get you where you need to be?

I'm not sure how many artists you're representing, but I also wanted to mention that we have an employee management feature that would allow you to assign an employee role to each artist for reporting purposes. Learn more about it here: Employee Management

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks but what is a CSV? And is it only accessible from the Dashboard?

Hi! Stepping in for Tom here. CSV is the format of the file that is being exported and can be opened using Microsoft Excel or any other spreadsheet software you prefer. The CSV file can only be exported from your Dashboard, but once you've downloaded it, you're able to send the file to wherever you need. If you follow the Item Sales link Tom mentioned above, you'll see a button on the upper right hand side that says Export. From there, you can decide which version of the CSV you'd like to download (Summary vs. Detail).

Of course, I should know that.

But I don't want to download an information overloaded csv file to find this information. I just want the transaction receipt to indicate both the Category and the Item, at check-out. Seems simple enough . . .

I'm sorry for the frustration Denny! At this time the category associated with an item won't be displayed on your customer's receipt but the information is available in the reports mentioned already.

As a workaround you could add the artist's name as a note to the payment. The name will then appear immediately below the name of the item on your receipts as well as the Item detail CSV.

I'll share your request to include Categories on receipts, I can see how it would be really useful in a gallery!
