Can we place items on hold?

Now that all of my sales are 100% online due to COVID-19, I'm having an issue whereby I can no longer set items to the side for a period of time (our usual Hold Policy is 2 weeks) until they can get it without the high probability of someone else coming along online and buying it. Is there a way to place an item on hold? I know I can make it hidden, but that only works if the item is unique--many times I have several copies and I want to sell the other ones

One fix, that would fix another issue I have, would be to make it so that items listed on an Invoice are put on hold. It's definitely a problem to solve because creating an Invoice for someone means they are buying it, and making payments on it, but someone else can come along online now and buy it

I don't believe this is an available feature in the Square Online Store at this time, but I will certainly double-check with our Online Store Support Team and get back to you once I've confirmed with them.

 

Otherwise, I believe the closest feature would be a scheduled pickup order but it sounds like we want to hold these items for the customer before we process their payment.

Hi there again @BreadShopSF - Hope you had a great weekend!

I'm following up with the info I was provided by our Online Store Support Team.

 

We don't have an option to put items on hold. But you could create a 100% off coupon to allow the customer to complete the checkout flow if they want to come into the physical location and pickup/pay for the item they put on "hold" with you.

Yes!  Removing inventory once invoiced would be extremely helpful!!
