Can we accept tips through the Square Appointments booking calendar?

Can we not accept tips through the Square Appointments booking calendar?

I have not tried to check out via the Appointments app, but there is an option to accept tips in the settings of the app.

 

Is this not working as it does in the regular POS app?

@HarlowRue @DaoDeJing Just to confirm, yes can accept tips with the Appointments app. This Support Center article has the steps to enable tipping in the Appointments app but if you're having any trouble let me know!

Hi Helen, 

 

I know this thread is old, however, I am new to square and am using android app and square appointments app and I am not able to include tips when checking out a client through the appointments app on my phone, there is no option to add a dollar amount or % amount.  I would accept payments as cash or contactless reader.   I have tipping options turn on and I have this ability from my computer but can't connect my contactless reader to my computer for some reason.  I am just trying to find a way I can use just one device for everything.  I have been through the support articles I can find.  Thanks for your help.

@Nailsbyleelee I'm sorry for the delay in my reply! You should be able to accept tips from the Square Appointments app:

  1. Tap the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner to navigate to the menu.
  2. Tap Settings > Tipping.
  3. Toggle Collect Tips to on.

Keep in mind if you select the option to display a Separate Tipping Screen, your customers will be able to select a tip after the payment has processed. Otherwise the tipping screen should appear on the signature/authorization screen for card payments (you won't see the tip option if you select 'Cash' at checkout).

 

If you're still unable to accept tips make sure you have the most up to date version of the Appointments app or call our Customer Success team so we can help you to troubleshoot!

 

Also, regarding connecting your contactless reader to your computer at this time you can only connect the magstripe reader to a computer to accept payments with Virtual Terminal. With Square Appointments you can manually enter card information to your Dashboard or charge a card on file without the reader.

Thank you Helen.  I have tipping turned on and it works with my contactless reader.  However, if a client pays cash or electronic transfer then I have no way to record a tip from the mobile app but I can do this from the computer.  It’s ok, I just was hoping to use one electronic device during the day.
