Can i use the register behind counter but swipe the card on another tablet that customer can sign?

I want to use the register but it would stay behind the bar area, can I use another tablet to swipe card and have customer sign?? Or do I need to swipe the card through the register? But how does the customer sign if the register is out of their reach?

The customer needs to sign on the iPad that the transaction is taking place on.  I recommend the Square Stand, we have 3 in our business and love them.  The Square stand is great because it has a built-in swivel that rotates the iPad 180* so that it is facing the customer for them to sign.
