Since the Square Magstripe Reader isn't tied to one particular device, or account, you can definitely pass it around between your iPad and iPhone.
The brains of the operation is the Square Register app. You'll just want to make sure you're signed into the same account on both of your devices if you want the funds to be tied to the same Square account. 👍
