Automatically printing a receipt in my cafe for online orders (pick-up or delivery)

 I have a cafe with 2 Square Registers (This bad boy: https://squareup.com/shop/hardware/us/en/products/register-pos) - one at the front counter and 1 for our drive-thru. We are in the process of adding online ordering (for pick-up AND delivery) through our Square/Weebly site.  We have set up a dedicated wireless printer (the Star Micronics TSP143IIIW Wi-Fi Thermal Receipt Printer) for online orders and would like it to ONLY print receipts - you know those physical pieces of paper that shows someone paid for something and acts as a record of the transaction...the kind that most customers don't want lol (I feel like I shouldn't have to clarify this, but after multiple phone calls and messages with Square support team I guess I do).  

 

I have set up the wireless printer, tested it, and it is currently operating just fine for all our in-person transactions at our Cafe - so no issues there. A receipt for each transaction that happens within our cafe prints out to this particular printer automatically each and every time from both registers

 

Here's the issue - my goal is to ultimately use this wireless printer SOLEY for printing online transaction receipts when they come in through our website. I can get the printer to print tickets, but it WILL NOT automatically print receipts. Is there a setting on the Square Register or in the Square/Weebly online store to make this happen? Or is there not a way for our registers to automatically print a physical receipt for online orders?

 

Our ideal situation is that a transaction receipt prints to the wireless printer in question for our Shift Manager as a way for them to ensure all items on the order are made/gathered appropriately and double checking everything before bagging it up. We would then staple the physical transaction receipt for the online order to the bag as a way to designate that the order is fully prepared and acts as a designator for the delivery drive or the customer to see the name on the bag and now it is theirs to pick up.

 

 

**Disclaimer: I do realize that any printer connected to our registers will also print the receipts, tickets, or ticket stubs that I have designated in my register settings when placing in-person orders on our register. That there is no setting in the register for a printer to ONLY print things from our online store. I'm fine with that and recognize that as a shortcoming of the square set up. However, if I could request that as a feature to be added - a printer setting that allows a printer to ONLY print online orders and NOT in-person orders - that would be fantastic)**

Thanks for taking the time to write this, @grovetealounge! I checked some of your other posts and it sounds like you have resolved this or at least figured out a bit of workaround. Is that correct?

Hey there! I did - ultimate decided it was easier to just print a complete ticket out to this designated printer rather than trying to continue messing around with a receipt option as it doesn’t appear that it’s possible to print a physical receipt to an online transaction via the printers in our cafe when they populate in our register

 

if it’s possible to put that request in as a future update, I would appreciate it! Would be great if the printer in our cafe could also automatically print a receipt for the online order in the same fashion our tickets automatically print out for online orders
