In New York clothing and footware items below $110 are not taxed. I do not see a way to automatically apply tax based on the final sale price of an item (after any discounts for example). Going through and applying the tax to each applicable applicable item does not work for me because all my items have some sort of discount applied - we are an outlet and want customers to see their savings on their receipts. Therefore, the final price may be lower than $110 although the original price is above that.
Is setting tax based on final price of items really not a feature on sqaure, and if not any ideas on how to work around this in a simple way? I don't want the checkout process to be too complicated and prone to error.
unfortunately, there isn't a way to have the tax applied or not based on a price. you would have to manually enable tax on each item over $110 (or reverse if you have more that are over than under).
Yup. Customer service said the same. Not even available in the paid Retail version.Definitely a much needed feature.
It's simple enough to add tax (or not) based on price of item, although that's a cumbersome process. However, since we are an outlet, every item has an automatic discount because we want customers to see their savings on their receipt. So for example, if an item is $150 I would add it with tax applied. However, the item has a auto 50% discount, which brings it to $75. This item should now not have tax applied. My employees can easy remove the tax per item during checkout, true. But this process is very prone to errors - and that's what could easily be avoided by adding a feature to apply or not apply tax based on final sale price of an item (similar to what is there now based on "dining options").
Hope Sqaure teams works on this as I see it benefitting many.
