Apple Pay is not available while you are using "register"

I am setting up my contactless reader for the first time, and am getting this message. What does it mean?

It just means that your phone cannot be sending payments with Apple Pay at the same time it's accepting payments with Square Register. It's an obnoxious message as it can pop up quite frequently, but it's nothing important.

If you want to use apple pay to pay somewhere simply exit Square Register.
