I am a professional artist specializing in custom portraits. My art can be viewed on my website www.stvdesigns.com. I love creating memories for people that are frozen in time.
Welcome @STVDesigns! Your art is amazing - do you have a favorite piece?
Yes I do have a favorite piece. It is a mural I painted on a 16' x 6' cinder block wall in a family"s basement. With burnt umber acrylic paint, I rendered old world maps of a French village landscape and an Italian map of the continents in the 1500's. It was detailed and so interesting. The father"s great great grandfather was married in one of the French churches in the landscape I painted.
Wow how amazing! I'm sure the family really appreciated it and it sounds like a super interested piece to create 🙂
I am a small mom and pop retail business and I am new to all of this. I am learning as I go. I am glad to be apart of togetHER.

Welcome @rhsales171! Is there anything in particular you'd like to learn from the togetHER community or about Square?
Hello! I hope I'm posting this to the right place. I was encouraged to introduce myself as a new member of togetHER. I was just approved funding for my business. I will be starting a year-round hydroponic farm producing leafy greens and herbs for our small, rural Alaskan community. I've chosen Square (for now) to accept payments, but am still trying to figure out if Square can be my full-fledged solution. We have some unique order/pre-order needs and inventory tracking needs that I don't think Square can handle.
That being said, I'm happy to be here and hope I can support you all in your endeavors as well!

You're in the right place @kalenthyme! Welcome! 😊
Hi, my name is Verla Kay and I'm excited to be able to be a part of this community. I'm a long-time children's author of historical picture books who just finished compiling and self-publishing my father's WWII fighter pilot biography, Wings Forever, for adults and older kids. It has taken me over 15 years to complete this book and I'm truly proud of how it turned out. This is my first venture into self-publishing and I've found the process to be completely mind-boggling and even overwhelming at times.
I'm hoping to get ideas here that can help me market this book and get it noticed. Publisher's Weekly recommended it in their Indie Spotlight books for November, 2021, which I'm thrilled about! I created a store on my website, https://verlakay.com using Square as one way to buy the book (along with Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc.) but I'm completely at a loss when it comes to placing ads, setting up an Etsy store (is that even feasible for just one product?) etc. Suggestions and ideas would be VERY welcome!
You can see the trailer I created to introduce the book (and see just a few of the 170 vintage photos that are in the book) by going to this link: https://youtu.be/bHcTP5CCUgA

Hi Verla,
Congratulations on a beautiful tribute to your Dad, I'm sure he's very proud of you and this great accomplishment. I am not a pro but if you can get someone to interview you (with preplanned questions that you want asked) there are lots of small stations that need to fill airtime, you can easily get on the radio or online TV. If you have an ebay account you can sell it there, you can sell on Nextdoor in your neighborhood, you can go to bookstores and ask to set up a table maybe do some signing. Just a few thoughts. Best of luck!
Thanks for the suggestions. I've already done some of them. (Contacting bookstores, signings, etc.) Doing interviews is something I hadn't thought about. Great idea! I'd like to figure out how to get ahold of legitimate mailing lists of historical and military museums and libraries so I could send flyers to them telling them about the book. It's a long, slow process to market a book on your own! The good thing is that my book won't become obsolete while I'm figuring out how to get it noticed. <grin> I sure wish my parents were alive to see the book. They both died far too young.
Hi, @WingsForever - welcome to the group, and thank you for sharing your amazing story with us!
I have a couple of friends who self-publish their own work and used social media for marketing/advertising, which might be worth checking out if you haven't already. You might be able to advertise in magazines geared toward history or aviation buffs, too. I was also going to suggest getting set up at GoodReads, but it looks like you're already on top of that! 😉
Hi everyone my name is Jenn! I am really new to the seller community and learning what the ins and outs are and the rules of what's ok and what's not. I see a lot, well most posts I see are people who have started their own business which is AMAZING!
I am part of an MLM that I found I could really get behind. And I wondered if anyone else here was part of am MLM?
Hi
Welcome and I wish you much success...I actually use to be a part of one and loved my experience. It's what helped me realize I could do it myself instead of dealing with a middleman.
Hey Hey!
My name is Jazmine, I am a hair braider located in Owings Mills, MD, and I am excited to be apart of this community! I just moved into my own suite last Monday. I was working in a commission-based salon since April of this year and felt that it was time for me to venture out on my own and to build my own brand. I am excited to network and meet some other entrepreneurs who I can relate to and who can relate to me!
Welcome, @H3R-Hair-Studio, and congratulations on branching out to your own space! 🙌
Would love to see pictures when you get settled in! 📸
Hello my name is Katie, and I am the creator of Messy Makes Art Shop! I will post a link to our shop! We sell digital paintings, quotes, fan art, and more! We even do commissions! www.messymakesartshop.com
Welcome to the community!
Thank you!
Welcome!! What other channels are you using to sell your products? Is Etsy a large revenue stream for you?
I don't use Etsy, as they take alot of commotion and products can only be on for so many days and you have to pay again to put them back on. Also your seo needs to be really good and changed daily just to try and keep you to the top of the search as thounds of sellers sell the same thing. This is just my opinion.
