Questions regarding Square Register replacement email

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Is the free one-time replacement of the latest Square Register a scam?"

We received an email from messaging.squareup.com with subject line "Your Square Register needs an upgrade" offering to swap out our Square register with a brand new one as it is an older version and is running slower. It has step by step directions on how to file the claim that include the serial number of our register, so it seems legit. I just want to make sure it is before I file this claim. Has anyone else received this email, or can someone from Square verify that this is a legitimate offer?

I reached out to one of our marketing managers. They confirmed that this is a legitimate email from us. (Any official emails from us will come from an “@squareup.com” or an “@weebly.com” address. You may also occasionally receive emails from our parent company Block, Inc. from an “@block.xyz” address.) You can follow the steps listed in the email to receive your complimentary device upgrade.
