Thanks for the tag here, @TheRealChipA.

Unfortunately, I have to be the bearer of bad news here, @COACH44 😞

After the seven-day window to submit your information has closed, our team will challenge the dispute, using the information available, to build the strongest case possible to present to the bank.

Square doesn’t decide who wins or loses a dispute—that’s up to the bank that issued your customer’s credit card. However, you have a better chance of avoiding future disputes by following a few best practices. Please see this article from our Support Center for further details on preventing disputes. You can also review this information on preparing documents to challenge disputes.

I hope this is helpful and answers your question. Please let me know if there's anything else I could assist with.

Hi there @COACH44.. Since we are using Square's to process credit cards for our businesses, we have no standing with the banks.  When there is a dispute, the banks are by law required to alert Square who then alerts us and works with us to resolve the dispute.  Even if you called the customer's bank, they would be legally bound to tell you to reach out to Square.

Now, I'm guessing that when the dispute arose, Square reached out to you for all of that proof you say you have.  Also, as you mentioned, Square gave you a deadline for your reply.  That deadline that Square gave you was set in order to also meet what the law says.  Federal law gives us a maximum amount of time to resolve disputes and, if we don't do so, then we automatically lose.  There are rare cases when we might be able to extend that deadline, but you'd have to prove circumstances beyond your control -- prove that you didn't just forget and let the deadline pass through negligence.

I'm going to tag the Square moderators here in the Community.  They can let you know if you have any other legal options here and, if you do, they will give you further instructions.  But, if Square says that they can do nothing further because that's all the law allows, then your only other option will be to retain legal counsel or file a case in small claims court.  Either of those will cost you money, and might not be worth it because of that.

Can one of you look into this and see if @COACH44 has any remedies, or not?
