I export my item inventory to excel to update my inventory counts when I recieve shipments. For over a year it's worked well but the last time I exported my inventory all the items were out of alphabetical order and with almost 1,000 items it's nearly impossible to find the items I need to update in a timely manner. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

While the "Export Items" feature will export your items in alphabetical order, the Inventory Export feature does not.
You can alphabetize the Item Names within Excel as well. I recommend checking out the Excel Help Center to find out how to columns or rows by alphabetical order.
We are having the same problem. It happend after they did their update. Alphabetical does not help us. We deal with sizes. This is a logistical nightmare. Square told us to take our computer to a computer shop...really? It is not my computer that is the problem. It seems to be a glitch they can't fix. If we can't find a solution we will have to find another inventory system...and I am sure others will as well.
@jakduptees I'll definitely let our Product Team know about the feedback. In the meantime, check out some of the Inventory Apps in our App Marketplace that we integrate with. There might be a solution that works for you.
Yep, same here. This glitch will cost me a lot of time w/o a fix.
(Just did a series of tests and it jumbles the item order everytime i export it).
@cleverdork Sorry to hear this is causing you trouble as well. I checked in with our Product Team and it looks like they've added this to their To-Do List. I don't have an exact timeline for you, but they are definitely working on making this better for you all!

Hey @cleverdork, thanks for checking in and I'm sorry for any inconvenience. We don't have any updates yet, but we'll certainly update this thread as soon as we hear more. For the time being, you'll need to sort your items once you've opened them up in Excel.

Update, I was able to auto sort it to alphabetical order and update the inventory without it ruining everything.

Square still exports the items out-of-order BUT the subcategories are now in-order.
This means a simple excell alphabetical sort will work now!
