Team member invite email error

I setup a team member with phone number and email address, and invited him to join. He tried to accept the invite from his mobile device. It told him to add his email. Then it told him email already associate with another user.  What am I doing wrong?

Hi @thablaze_57.  You are probably not doing anything wrong.  Rather, this employee was probably employed by another Square seller who also used Square Payroll, so they already have a Square account.  They just need to sign us with those account credentials (or request a password reset in order to sign in if they no longer have that password), and everything should be good to go.

 

Also, though less likely, if you are re-hiring this employee the same situation would occur.  The point is here that this employee’s email is already associated with Square Payroll, not matter who their employer was.

Hi! Seems like they already have an email account. What is happening is accepting via phone is making them create a new account. Instead, please ask them to accept via email and they should just be able to sign in with their existing account and accept the invite to your team!
