Was going through my transactions earlier & noticed a new employee had somehow sent herself a direct deposit instead of using instant transfer to cash out the profits of the day. It was about 2 weeks ago. I’ve spoke with her and she believes it was a closed bank account. She was honest & says she has not had any access to the funds.
is there any way to reverse this? What are my options?
@Drockton When it comes to banking account information, I would check that first and make sure the account and routing numbers are correct. The only person that can change banking information is the account owner. NEVER EVER EVER share this with any employee or they could divert funds before you realize it.
That being said, once money is gone, it has to be sent back by the other institution, if it was truly a closed account it would get rejected and come back. I would be suspicious until you have verification. I would have the employee sit down and call the bank in question and see what they say. If she refuses to do this with you, I would really assess the situation and take appropriate action.
The instant transfer should only send it to the registered bank account and never another account. Also check your registered account owner e-mail address, you should have gotten an e-mail on a change like that. She could have changed it..did the transfer...and changed it back to try to avoid detection.
When someone says they "believe" it was a closed bank account, that is a red flag. I know every account I have and if it was closed why would she have the account and routing number so readily available but can't remember the status?
"The manual verification process can take up to 4 business days (excluding weekends and holidays). It’s recommended to instantly link with Plaid through your online Square Dashboard, as the manual verification process cannot be expedited." Adding bank accounts isn't a willy nilly process.
