Hey community! I was wondering if it is possible to find out the rehire date of an employee.
Is it possible? From what I've seen, if an employee is rehired, the new hire date replaces the old one and there is no way to know...
Thanks!
Hi, @Bruno5 ! Welcome to the Square Community!
You are right that Square replaces the original hire date with the most recent rehire date in the main employee profile. There isn’t a built-in field that shows both the original hire date and rehire date side by side.
But you may still be able to find the information depending on how you’re using Square.
Some suggestions on where to possibly find/figure out rehire date:
Go to:
Team → Team Members → Select employee
If they were previously marked inactive and then reactivated, the activity log sometimes shows:
Date deactivated
Date reactivated
That reactivation date effectively becomes the rehire date.
Payroll History (If Using Square Payroll)
If you're running payroll:
Go to Payroll → Team
Look at their employment timeline
If they stopped appearing in payroll runs and then resumed, you can see the gap and identify the rehire pay period.
Payroll reports are often the most reliable way to confirm employment breaks.
Timecard History
If time tracking was used:
Go to Shifts → Timecards
Filter by employee
Look for the gap in recorded shifts
The first shift after a long gap often indicates the rehire timeframe.
I hope this helps!
