Changing employee address mid year

Hi there.  Employee is moving from our Texas office to work from home in CT and I need to change her address.  I have created an account in CT for unemployment and have added that info to tax info screen.  I can change her legal address but cannot change her work address.  It only gives me the previous TX address to choose from.  When I contacted square they told me they do not support changing the address in the middle of the year because of the W-2.  I cannot imagine that this is true since I can't be the first employer to have an employee move mid year.  Any thoughts or work arounds for this?

Hi there, @hbconley,

 

Your employee should be able to do this from their end. They can update their personal information whenever they need from the Square Payroll employee dashboard. To do this, please have them try these steps : 

 

  1. Sign in to Square Payroll employee dashboard and select Personal Info.

  2. Edit any of the personal information and select Save.

If it continues to give them trouble, please let us know!

I was able to change their legal address but I cannot change their work address.  I am told the issue is that the work address is now a different state and Square does not support this being done in the middle of the year because there would be two W-2's.

Hey @hbconley - yes what you were told is correct and that is a current limitation. However we recently spoke to the Payroll Product team and they are going to revisit this request and see what the scope of work would be. I'll come back to this thread with any more updates that I receive from the team. Thanks!
