Maximum number items discounted option

Each Thursday I have a sale where customers can get up to 20 of a specific item half off, and the 21st and beyond are full price. Currently, as far as I know there is no way to implement this sort of discount, only for a minimum number of items sold not a maximum. I am requesting a Maximum Quantity discount option. The maximum discount value option does not work for this case since it is on more than 1 of the same item. As far as I can tell it would only apply to the total value of a single item. 

Ill give an example using $1 bottled water. The sale is "50% off bottled water, up to 20 bottles"
Customer A purchase 10 bottles. Since that is less than 20, they would all be half off. They should only pay $5. 
Customer B bought 25 bottles. The first 20 they bought would be half off ($10 total), but the next 5 would not ($5). So, they would be charged $15. 

Currently, the discount has to be applied manually to 2 separate instances of the item being added to the cart. For example with customer B, I need to add 20 bottles to the cart and select the 50% off discount, and then add another 5 bottles to the cart and not select it. Time consuming and inconvenient. Usually I can do the math in my head and only add 15 to the cart and ignore the other 10 but that is not ideal and doesn't account for odd numbers. 

There is currently a 'minimum quantity' option but that only would count if they bought 20 or more.
There is an exact quantity option I can set it to 20 but it will only discount it when they buy exactly 20, not less than 20. It needs to apply from items 1-20. 
Lastly there is a 'Maximum discount value' option where I tried doing the math and putting in the maximum dollar amount someone would be able to receive ($10 for 20 bottles half off), but it seems this only would apply if a single bottle had a discount of $10, it does not include multiples. So even if I added 1000 bottles, it would still take $500 off the total because each one was only 50 cents off not $10. Perhaps this feature is broken or I am doing something wrong. Either way, it did not work as I had hoped for this case. 

So, this feature should appear on the 'Add/Edit Discount' page, under 'Automatic Discount'. When you click 'Edit Discount Rule', there would be an additional 'Maximum Quantity - Apply discount to eligible items until a maximum quantity has been discounted' option.

I think this is a great suggestion, and your assessment of how our discounts work right now and how it isn't beneficial to your business model is really helpful. At this time our team is not planning on implementing this feature.  We understand that it might be difficult waiting for something to be built out, our team will make sure to update this thread if there are any changes.
