Inventory Counting: Full Count by Category

I'm posting the idea from @TSA_Orlando:

Would like the ability to do a "Full Count of only one category. I'm currently working with 4,000+ SKUs and want to have the ability to do a full inventory count (resetting certain products back to 0) while only effecting certain selected category's to break that SKU count down to something more manageable." 

Use Case: 

We have about the same number of SKUs, and being able to do a Full Count of books, or a Full Count of candles would be great. This would lessen the burden of having to do an inventory day with eight or so employees. Instead, we could do Full Counts of certain categories throughout the year.

I Agree 100%, We have 3 main categories and subsequently 15 Sub-Categories (A feature we keep requesting) and it would be nice to then break down and say ok we are only recounting "Food items" today for example.

Yes, having this option would be great for us when we do end of season plant counts as opposed to our full yearly count of our entire inventory. Thanks!

I never thought about this but this would be a great feature to have implemented. Thank you guys all for your feedback and details on why this is needed. At this time this is not something our Product Team has on their roadmap. If anything changes we will let you know!

We had made a similar request on the beta forum.   We have a candy and ice cream store where we also sell party supplies.  We wanted to get the count of the party supplies done now before the full inventory next month for all the candy.  Instead, we have to wait to do the party supply count with the candy.

Agreed! We have a lot of SKUs and just can't do the whole store in a day.

I would like to jump on this idea! We have thousands of skus in several categories that are trunked with different units. It would be INFINITELY amazing to do full counts by category!!!! It would prevent us from overselling, which is super critical now that we lose the 3% on credit card transactions that end in refunds.

Does doing a full count inventory in a category affect all of the other categories?

Would appreciate this as well. I want to do a full count of just books to see what may be missing, but the only way to do that is a full count of my entire inventory. I hope this gets implemented in the future.

DEFINITELY need this! We have thousands of items and many categories. There is no way we can do a full inventory, since we switched to Square last year, because we can't count the whole store all at the same time.  It would even help if we could do inventory by vendor.
