Modifiers - Select up to X items

I am requesting a feature to increment modifiers by "count"...up to a maximum allowed.

For example, we sell 1/2 dozen and dozen bagels and want to offer a modifier for "bagel flavors".

The screenshot below is what is desired but not currently supported (Square only allows for check boxes and a min/max via Square Online).

I can also see this working well for other restaurant as "sides" or "extras" up a maximum.

We'd love for a modifier feature to "add up to X" number of a particular modifier.

For example, select up to 12 bagels: 3 poppy, 3 sesame, 3 salt, 3 everything. The feature would offer 'select up to X more' until the max count.

This would also work for side items in a combo (meat and three), sauces, etc.

I, too, run a bagel shop and have been requesting quantity modifiers for about 2 years now. Every single time I speak to my rep (which has been a new person every 3-5 months) I submit this request. As a matter of fact, I ask to submit this request every time I am on the phone with anyone from square. The ability for a quantity modifier seems so logical. I have an option to add an extra egg to your sandwich but if someone wants 4 eggs what am I to do, make another modifier option for "ADD 2 MORE EGGS" and so on?  Right now I am running 13 separate modifiers to sell 1/2 and full dozens. When I sell out of 1 flavor of bagel I have to go in the backend and adjust 13+ different modifier categories. That is really really really frustrating when we are cranking on a busy Sunday morning. It's also VERY frustrating for our customers to find out we are out of the flavor they ordered after they have ordered it. I get told by every Square employee that they get this request A LOT.

@FamilyDough same here. Tracking modifiers the same way Square tracks items in essential.

We'd love to enter a count of remaining flavors, and then have the system track until 'sold out'. 

Right now we have a tear-sheet next to our register and we manually count down as we get low on flavors. It works but it's hugely inefficient and we run the risk of overselling.

Yep, agree. We do the same but we still run into issues with overselling as we sometimes can't pull from inventory as fast as the tickets are pouring in. We do a lot of online orders too which can stack real quick. When we sell out someone has to take 10 minutes to go into the dashboard and manually sell out individual flavors 14+ times for individual modifiers that are necessary to have currently. It also speaks quantity ordering which would work wonderfully in tandem with modifier inventory tracking.

I mean, this is a start but can we just note that I've found, within this square community, a request for this very thing nearly 5 years ago and have personally submitted multiple requests through each of my MANY reps. I submit this request every time I speak to someone. I guess that tells us that when we speak to our reps and they tell us they will submit a software request with the development team it either doesn't happen or it falls on deaf ears.

All this to say, Kristen, how do we fast-track this here submission? This is a feature available on nearly every other food service POS system and has been for quite some time. I don't think Square understands how important this feature can and will be for ALL of their restaurant/food service customers.

Being able to have a quantity on modifiers would be very helpful.  We have to constantly find ways to work around this feature not being available.  When you are a busy food establishment it is not helpful for the cashiers or the cooks who have to read "NOTES" on the orders.

Soon we will be recruiting sellers for our most anticipated Modifier Quantities beta. This beta is a direct result of your valuable feedback and our commitment to providing you with the best possible experience. 

What’s new? 

• Diners will have the ability to select multiple quantities of a specific modifier.
• Modifier sets can now support adding multiple quantities of a single modifier choice.
• Settings that previously were only available via "Item customization" can be set as a default for the modifier set. For example, modifiers set minimums and maximums, pre-selecting modifiers, and hiding modifiers on Square Online.

Current limitations

For the first phase of the beta, diners will only be able to use modifier quantities on your Square Online site. Support for the Square Restaurant app will be available in mid-March.

• Until the Square Restaurants app is supported, “Maximums” set for a modifier set will not apply outside of Square Online.
