It would be extremely helpful if we could designate specific categories or items that a discount can be applied to, without creating an automatic discount that applies to all guest-checks with the category or item during a time-period.
We have a weekly "mug-club" of sorts that only some guests participate in. Members receive half off cocktails and 25% off food on Wednesday nights only. The discount should only apply to their items and only on those specified categories.
The problem we face is that servers/bartenders will often apply a discount to a member check, not to specific items. Without having a way to designate only specific categories a discount can be applied to, it discounts ALL items from all categories on the check. This leads to improper discounting and stacking of discounts.
I wish there were additional settings for individual discounts so they could only apply to some check items/categories. This is already a capability when setting up automatic discounts, so it doesn't seem like it would be much of a stretch for engineers. We've tried many workarounds, but have had no luck besides constant training and auditing of staff transactions.
