block out requested dates by employere

hello can square make it available to have the employer block out dates and or times for certain employees.  It would make scheduling a lot easier.  my team refuses to use the team management app and tell me what days they cannot work.  thank you

A few questions as we are trying to use the Square Shifts application with Square Teams after moving from Homebase

  1. Is there any way to block time out on the schedule for an employee so they cannot be scheduled without having them request for every day / hour off that they need?  As a manager/owner we want to be able to block employees from scheduling at certain times for certain reasons but the only way to do that now is to have them request the time off (an entire day at a time).
  2. Is there any way for a manager to see what time people clock in and clock out on the mobile device without going to a computer screen?
  3. Is there a way to request only a few hours off instead of the whole day? 
  4. Availability only allows for the same schedule each week - is there any option to have a two week rotation for availability scheduling?
  5. There currently is no communication feature between employees - is this being looked at for team communications?
  6. There currently is no way to post an Event or holiday to the schedules for each employee to be aware of - is this being looked at for team communications?
  7. Is anyone looking at GPS features to allow staff to clock in on the Square Teams app but only if they are within a certain distance from the business?

I want to make sure we're on the same page here... You would like to edit your employees' availability? 

You can absolutely do that without having the employee use the Team app. 

 

Here are the steps to set their availability yourself: 

 

  1. Visit Staff > Shifts in your online Square Dashboard > Availability.
  2. Select the appropriate location from the drop-down menu above your team member list. If needed, you can select multiple locations to view shifts and availability across each of those locations together. If you're viewing multiple locations at once, the total hours calculation will update to reflect all of the locations selected. 
  3. From a team member’s row, click the ”+” icon to open up their availability page for a specific day.
  4. Toggle on Available all day if the team member is available during all scheduled business hours, or enter a Start Time and End Time to specify when the team member is available.
  5. To add another layer of availability, click Add availability, or choose to repeat the same availability for other days of the week by checking off the appropriate days under the Repeat on section.
  6. Click Save.

Now when you mention blocking specific dates, is that as in vacation/time-off dates? Like a specific block of days where they won't be available at all?

If that's the case, employees would need to request the time-off using the app themselves.

thank you for your thorough explanation.  The availability portion will be very useful.  However, I was specifically asking about vacation for employees and if I could input it in without the employee using the app.  So I would like to request that as an option.

Is there a way to black out dates so they CANNOT be requested off? I have a list of them but it would be great to have them on the schedule.
