I'm trying to set up my Square Register and want to use Verizon Fios for reliable internet, but I'm wondering if I can use my Verizon Fios router as a hotspot when my main Ethernet connection goes down. Does anyone know if it's possible to use Verizon's router feature with Square Register, or do I need a mobile LET or 5G device? Are there any specific settings or tweaks I need to make to ensure a stable connection? Any advice would be really helpful—thanks!
Hello @alexandriaa thanks for your post, and welcome to the Square Community, we're glad you're here!
You can connect your Square register directly to your Fios internet. In my case, I just plugged the ethernet/router cable from my router to the hub that connects your Square register. You should see an Ethernet symbol on one of the ports in the Square Register hub. You may need to change the connection settings on the Register (not sure if it automatically senses the type of connection or not).
I find the wired connection directly to the router is pretty stable, unless the whole Square network goes down or you have a local issue with Fios.
You can also connect the Square Register wireless to any WIFI signal, so it doesn't have to be a LET or 5G device. As long as you have a wireless network (even if it's coming from the Fios router) you should be able to connect and process payments. I hope this helps answer your question.
