When you say it won't connect to wifi or ethernet, does that include trying to plug it in directly?

Is it a used Square register or a new one?

You could try doing a factory reset and seeing if that helps.

"Tap the down arrow on your Register and tap Settings. Tap Hardware > General > About Register. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Factory Reset > Confirm Factory Reset. Tap Reset one last time."

There is also a hard reset button on the bottom of the register that you can hit with a paperclip.

Hello, yes i tried WiFi and hooked it up with Ethernet cable, NOTHING. 😞

It’s a brand new square i had bought before covid and it just sat in my garage, I haven’t even opened it, and I now am opening a new business so id thought I could use it and now i came into this problem.

I can’t seem to find a button to use a paper clip. Where is that located? There’s only a power button. 😞

Hey there, @Khairos to reset the register you would hold down the power button for almost a minute. You can find more information on how to do this here. If you continue to have issues I would contact our support team, so they can investigate this further. You can reach them at

1-855-700-6000, squ.re/contactsqsupport. I hope this helps!

Hi Khairos,

One thing you can try is a factory reset - see the info here.   If that does not help, then contacting Tech Support would be your next step as the Community is not the same as Tech Support.   If they can't resolve the issue, it may need to be replaced.  (I had a Square Stand fail and was replaced under warranty.)
