Square Register Upgrade Email

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Anybody else ANGRY at recent email re upgrading square register?

 

Received this email yesterday: 

Upgrade your hardware to avoid business disruptions
Your Square Register is approaching an age where you are more likely to experience service disruptions or slower performance. Your device may also stop receiving software updates for new features and capabilities in the future. While you can still continue taking payments, we strongly recommend upgrading your older device to the latest model to avoid possible disruptions to your business. Our latest hardware has improved processing power, twice the memory, and faster payment speed.

 

Here was our reply:

 

Dear marketing person who thought threatening and extorting your customers into buying new hardware was a good idea,
 
It's not. It's VERY bad marketing. How about selling the new features of your bloated software that will be slow and cause service disruptions and might not be usable on our current NOT VERY OLD AT ALL hardware to try and sell us on some new wondrous, incredible hardware that OF COURSE we will never get threatened or extorted into replacing again some day very soon?
 
We might just have to start looking for another credit card processor.
