Splitting Payment When Member Of Group Leaves Early

Splitting Payment When Member Of Group Leaves Early

Situation - A group of friends come into our lounge and grab a table. One friend needs to leave early and wants to pay a set amount (not for specific items, so I can’t split bill and separate their items and charge). As an example the order total is currently at £100, one friend is leaving and wants to pay £30 towards the bill, whilst the rest of the group are staying to order more menu items.

Current split payment options are limited to the transaction having to be completed in one go. That means if we charge that one friend £30, and then return to the main order without charging the rest of the payment total, it cancels the charge for the £30.

My simple suggestion is purely to allow the split payment option to take a partial payment and then returning to finalise the remainder of the charge at a later time once the remainder of the group leaves. Effectively it’s keeping the split payments option as it currently is, just with the change that returning to the transaction would not void any payments already made, and just simply reduce the amount remaining to pay, to then be paid at the end of the transaction

Hey @212Lounge - this is probably more complicated than it sounds to implement as it's not really a feature built in (although now you've said it it sounds obvious!).

The way I'd probably handle the situation is to enable sales of e-giftcards. If someone in a group want's today an amount and leave then put it though as a gift card sale (but probably sell it to your email address so's not to confuse the customers). Keep the e-card number behind the bar and use it when it's time to settle the bill.
