POS Screen Miroring

POS Screen Miroring

I have been looking for ways to share my Square POS screen with my customers without rotating the Square Stand. Few weeks ago my daughter shared an iPad feature called screen mirroring I am using as workaround.

Basically, I connect my iPad POS to a regular TV screen through a WiFi device such as iTV. It will be great if Square could develop a device that would play this role. It could be the existing Square Terminal or any similar device like a linked iPad that would dynamically mirror what the user is doing on an active Stand.. The current solution I have is rather artisanal (AnyCast) but the customers like it to the pont I am willing to pay if Square carries something similar.

Congratulation to the Team for the constant improvement to the Suite.

Hello @eliteretai !

I think this is an interesting idea! Are you looking for something where your customers are watching you enter their order in real time in order to prevent ordering mishaps or as a training tool for potential future Square merchants?

First reaction would be for you to check out the Square Register hardware. This has an integrated customer display. I don't recall if it updates real time though--I have stuck with iOS stands the entire time I've been a merchant.

If, like me, you don't want to shell out for new hardware, I have two current options you can look at that may help you out:

First is the Customer Display. This is where you take an older iOS model device and have it link to your stand. It will show the order as you enter it, but it is completely hands off for the customer. You still run cards just like you do now. I've used this in the past, but went away from it for the second option...

Second option is that Square has the ability to link a Terminal to your stand in a Connected Mode. This is where a terminal acts similar to the older credit card readers. When you're done with the transaction and it's time for the customer to pay, you send the order to the terminal. The customer sees an itemized list of their transaction, confirms the transaction, then taps, dips, or swipes their card. It does not update in real time, but there is an itemized list when you first send the transaction to it.

I guess in theory you could connect both the Customer Display and the Connected Terminal to your stand if you want that in depth interaction and not have to spin the stand around. Options! 🙂

Dear @ryanwanner,

Thank you for the advice. I went a long way since. I have a terminal, but, as you rightly said, it is not real time.

I also upgraded my screen mirroring experience to EasyCast (available in App Store) that allows full mirroring of my entire screen to my customers. It is indeed Easy. The only thing is the investment in an additional iPad of newer generation, but I am not complaining. I am actually enjoying it.

I agree this is not a Square feature but it adds great values to the Square Register.

Regards,

Mathieu
