built-in dual pricing feature

built-in dual pricing feature

Hello.

We sell whole animal premium meat cuts at the farmers market and we are building our e-commerce site with square.

We sell by the pound and do not cut our steaks to fit a specific weight. This is easy in person to sell, but difficult online since we will not know how much each steak weights until we pull the order and weigh it.

We are managing the inventory by the "each" and selling by the pound as you see below. This works very well. The challenge is the confusion that is created by having two prices visible on our website.

I would like to have the "each" price only visible on the website and the $/lb cost only available on our POS systems.

Would would be REALLY awesome is if we could have the $/lb price displayed but not selected online so I would not have to update it manually in the product description.

Here is how I have been setting up the products.

Hey @Boilergradd - Thanks for submitting this Feature Request.

I've updated the status to "Open". This step in the Feature Request process will be a time in which other Square Sellers can add their use cases to your idea to make it stronger and demonstrate further how much it is needed. Later on, we'll re-visit the most popular feature requests in the "Open for Votes" status and bring them to our Product Team.

To other Sellers who see this feature, please “like” the post and reply with a use case that your business would have. This will help to signal that this feature request is even more important to address.

Thank you!

Hello I would like to add my use case in for this as well.
We have a lot of inventory in store, a lot of handmade one-of-a-kind things, so duplicating a bunch of items to have some for in-store and some for online is too much overhead to maintain.
We need to keep our prices lower in-store than online, so online sale price does not work for us (seems to only accommodate online prices being lower while also putting a SALE tag on the items and showing original price slashed out, etc which is not useful).

Due to being unable to find any Square solution or workaround we are ready to give up and move fully away from Square for online sales as we feel we have no other options left.

Hello,

This feature would be useful to us as well. We'd like to be able to have separate pricing in store and online, as well as separate wholesale pricing for specific wholesale customers. We also do a handful of vendor events every year that have their own pricing. We have been handling that by duplicating the items and giving them event pricing and creating a category for the event to keep track of those sales separately. But it does create an issue in store if someone searches an item by name instead of scanning the UPC, they may charge the event price accidentally. That would be a nice separate feature: being able to hide categories from one area or another. For wholesale customers that purchase in store and via Square invoices, we either have to discount every item or create single use items for the invoice.

This was not an issue not too long ago...why the change?!

Just wanted to add my use case here as well.  I have different pricing for in person sales than I do for my website.  In my case, my in person pricing is set at rates that will make my prices "include taxes". (ie $23.71 in person with taxes will = $25 once tax is added, $25 is the price tag they see in person.). Prices online are the full price ($25) and then taxes are added based on the buyer's location.   This just makes it easier all around.  Also, some items are more expensive online, because they take longer or don't sell in person at that range, but do online.   Showing the price range on the website is confusing and makes shoppers think they are supposed to be paying less, until they click on the item.  Making them not trust the website and not make the sale.  Meaning you don't get your cut either.   So we're all losing out.

Because we want to encourage in-person sales over online and prioritize our products for our local community, it would be ideal if we could set a separate (and in our case, higher) price for Online sales without it appearing as a range, which is currently the behavior.

We would like this feature as well. We currently use Square as processing only (we handwrite receipts!) and have a Shopify website. At some point, we need to get all of our inventory digitized and have everything synced with our website. However, we need to have higher prices online for some items (we sell a huge variety of hand-made art) to account for shipping as we have a flat rate shipping cost.

Dual pricing would be benfecial to our business also.  I was considering moving our website over to square but if this feature isn't available I am hesitant to do this. There are other POS/online places that offer this I am suprised that Square doesn't. It would be great also to have an online area where my wholesale customers could login and order through the website and see their wholesale pricing.
