Square for Restaurants - No Ethernet port on new Square Stand???

I am quite disappointed to learn that the new square stand does not have an Ethernet port.

We are a very busy restaurant with 4 square stands.

It doesn't happen everyday but we sometimes have a day here and there where we discover (too late) that one or more orders did not print successfully on the kitchen printer.

When this happens,  the staff, which is already stressed from being busy and often short-handed,  asks me to throw all of the square hardware in the trash and find something better.

I had high hopes that the new Square stand would be the answer but it is not.

Despite great efforts to configure a up to date and robust WiFi network set up strictly for these 4 stands,  Square support suggests that our printing issues are network related.  Everything else network related seems to work perfectly all of the time. (as long as the internet is working)

There is no substitute for a wired ethernet connection.  Is there hope for a hub for the new stand that has an ethernet port?

@Snipsa I have wired ethernet receipt printers and generally never have a problem with orders going down as far as printing from a tablet via wi-fi to the ethernet printer.  If the internet goes down, of course online orders won't come through, but this is rare for me personally.

I am using a netgear solution (wi-fi router combo) in front of my isp device.  I do not trust isp devices and find much better results having my network separate.  In the event I do have an issue, I can plug a cellular hot spot up to the router and still run without my isp.

I haven't tried it, but I imagine you could hook a usb to ethernet adapter into the usb hub on the new stand and get wired ethernet to your ipad.

Last bit of advice I have is to close out and restart the square application each day, even on an ipad.  I find this remedies most problems before they start.

I have also noticed, that many times you can update the app in the apple appstore prior to being notified there is an update.  Square updates the app almost weekly.

Hi there @Snipsa Thank you for submitting your request to our Ideate Board 💡I went ahead and moved your post from the "Square for Restaurants" board to the "Square Hardware" board since this is specific to the Square Stand, not the Restaurants software.

In each Square Stand (first or second generation) there is an iPad that acts as your Point of Sale. Your iPad connects to your internet network through its Wi-Fi settings. Because of this, I don't believe we would implement an Ethernet connection for the Square Stand but I can certainly check in with our Product Team to see what their thoughts are on this and if they happen to have this on their roadmap.

I'll be sure to come back here with an update once I receive more information. I appreciate your patience in the meantime!
