Register With Google

trying to get set up in google search console. I purchased my domain through square but found out is is owned by register.com. So from what i understand I need to attach my text file in regerster.com but i do not have a login since i purchased the domain form square

Hi there @yack1165.. I just checked my Google Search Console account to confirm something.  You don't, and in fact you can't, upload text files any longer to verify domains.  There are two methods for adding your website to Google Search Console.  Both involve modifying DNS records which you can do on your Square Online dashboard. 

 

  1. The recommend method is to add a TXT DNS record.
  2. Or you can add a CNAME DNS record.

You can add these DNS records in your web dashboard > Online > Online Store > Website > Domains.  Click the Manage button beside your domain,, then select "Manage Domain."  Scroll down to the DNS area and you'll see a button to Add DNS record,  Follow Google's instructions for completing this task.  Also, note that it can take 24-48 hours for this DNS change to "take," and for Google to detect the change.  That is an internet restriction and can't be rushed by anyone.
