Customers should be able to see stock levels

How handy would it be if customers could see stock levels?

This would allow for them to better plan and avoid negative surprises

We would find it particularly useful because we sell tickets for events and would love customers to know if they can attend with friends and family

This would be awesome, I'm just starting up my home bbq business, and I want customers to see how much stock I have left. I can update the stock levels each time I have a cook.  For example, I want there to be 30 mixed bbq boxes available, and as each customer buys/orders one it counts down, sorta like a visual 'get in now, before we sell out' kinda thing. I have seen I can have low level alerts and similar pop up above the item.

Do customers see how many items are available? I want there to be a count, so customers can see there are only xxx items left. Its a visual prompt to get in now, before they sell out, If I make each item 20, low stock alert, would this alleviate it?

Using a low stock level alert on Square Online could be a workaround here to create urgency and let customers know to place an order before you run out. You can turn the notification on from your Square Online dashboard under Settings > Item Preferences.

Hi Arie, if I had 20 units, then I put the low level alert at 20 units will this count down on my page for customers to see?? 

 I want my customers to see the count

@Smokinmbbq It's not possible at the moment - from memory I think it'll start displaying a low stock count at 2 or 3 items left.

We'll continue tracking this request via this thread and make an update if this changes in the future!

@Smokinmbbq yes, on your website it'll prevent customers from ordering an out of stock item and also note that the item is out of stock:

If you also use the Point of Sale app it's worth noting that this does give you the ability to sell an item with no stock marked as "Sold Out" - the assumption being that as the store owner you might find an extra somewhere so we don't prevent you from manually overriding that on the Point of Sale. It'll still give you a warning here, but unlike the website, it'll still let you pick the item and sell it if you want.
