Automatic digital download or email link to digital download not available still March 2023

Digital downloads are a big part of my website and business model. I prefer using SquareUp other commerce sites but this is starting to become a deal breaker for me.

There are a few ways this experience could be improved

1-Automatic downloads of digital items (every other option like square space, etsy, kofi has this built in already)
and/or
2- Allow me to make a custom email for the item where I can link to a dropbox account to download a specific file
and/or
3-Allow me to add my own hyperlinks into the post to offer the purchase elsewhere, then I can showcase what's on offer through my Square site but link out to Apple books, Indigo etc

If there isn’t a solution for this in the next 3-6 months I might have to look for another website option elsewhere. I enjoy using Square otherwise and hope I don't have to leave.

I am making short course videos that I want to sell from my website.  Ideally I would like that once someone pays they are able to access the video whenever they want. Is this a function I can get from square with perhaps a "buy now button" ?

Currently, when customers purchase non-physical items, such as digital content, from your Square Online site, you need to manually email them the details to redeem their purchase. We understand the importance of automating this process, and it's a popular feature request. While Square Online doesn't offer this specific functionality yet, there are a few alternative solutions you might consider:

App Integrations

• To automate email delivery, explore our partnership with SendOwl in the Square App Marketplace. This integration can streamline the process for you.
  
  

Order Confirmation Email

• If you're only selling digital items, you can customise your Order Confirmation email template to include a link to your videos. This could be a link to a file-sharing folder like Dropbox or Google Drive, or a private YouTube playlist.
  
  

Payment Link - Redirect to Website

• Use a Buy button payment link that redirects customers to another website after payment. Here's how you can set it up:
  
  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and navigate to Payments > Payment Links.
  2. Click Create a link or Add button to website in the top right corner.
  3. Enter the necessary details, then click Advanced Settings.
  4. Toggle on Redirect to a website after checkout.
  5. Add your website URL (consider using a file-sharing service or private playlist link).
  6. Click Save.
  • Note: Once payment is made and the link redirects, if the customer exits the page, they won't have a record or way to retrieve it. Therefore, updating your order confirmation email template or using an app integration like SendOwl might be more reliable alternatives.
