Add Google and Facebook Categories in the item edit

Add Google and Facebook Categories in the item edit

It would be very helpful to have a field in the items data that allows the retailer to add the Google and Facebook categories. It's very frustrating to be told that these fields are missing from my products, but there is no way of adding them in the initial data when uploading them.

 

I haven't found an easy way to do this and I constantly get a message telling me that there is an issue that needs updating. Make this option part of the data in the first place and the issue disappears.

Hi all, 

 

I keep getting messages from Google with the following message:

 

"These fields have missing information: Make items easier to discover by providing google_product_category information."

 

Any idea how I add this field to my products. I don't get this message for all products I upload so I must be doing it right for some of them, I just can't work out where the changes need to be made with the ones they are flagging. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear you're running into this. 

 

I don't have any insight into what the error may be here, unfortunately. Hopefully, another Square Seller may be able to share their experience. 

 

I did have a look through some of Google's help pages and found some tips for Invalid value: - [google_product_category], which sounds like it could potentially be related to the error you're seeing. It may be worth taking a look at the troubleshooting steps.

It would be really useful to add an actual field in the items data that has the Google Categories available to add. Same goes for Facebook categories. It is extremely tedious to find where to add a category that doesn't actually exist in the Square upload option. If Square is highlighting this error, then maybe they should provide the solution in the first place. Does that make sense?

I can definitely pass this feedback on to our product teams. I agree that it doesn't make sense, for us or for you. 

Hopefully, within the integration, it's something we'll be able to update soon.
