Why have bar code printers not been updated?

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Bar Code Printers.

Why no updated bar code printers? It has been the same for the last few years. Some models discontinued by the manufacture, others are beyond costly, some require the use of manufacturer labels only, and the others are ridiculously expensive.

We have a retail store and one of the main reasons we switched to Square was to have the ability to scan merchandise. Very very disappointed at the incredibly limited options for bar code printers.

Yes that is one reason why we went with square too @LB25651. Now supposedly you can print barcode labels from the POS registers. It would be nice to know which printers would be compatible (at least that is what a recent notification on the POS popped up). Thank you
