Get A Notification When Customer Saves Card On File

Is there a way to get notified when a customer chooses to save their card on file? I know Square automatically emails the customer, but I need a notification too as the business owner so I can keep my logistics database updated properly.

At this time this is considered a feature request @Roastiva I recommend you submit your request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers' interest in your request.

This is really a feature that needs to be added--so many of us are relying on cards on file to process payments since COVID began. I am a therapist in private practice solo with no billing department so I have to do all interactions with clients myself, and my clients absolutely hate that I have to contact them after their card declines and manually enter their new cards (most of which only have just changed expiration date) and it is so awkward having to manually tell them their card was declined. In other cases, I havr had people who are no longer clients who end up not ever giving me their card info as they are uncomfortable sharing it with me remotely understandably and I have to pester them with monthly invoices till they pay by check. In healthcare, it can take weeks to know if there is a balance due after filing with insurance so this happens a lot. My clients are coming to me to feel less stress not more, and most people react with embarrassment and are flustered when this happens. Most have asked if there is any way they can be notified by Square directly when their cards have expired instead so they can update their cards themselves as it would feel less personal and would be easier amd prevent awkwardness. It is such a problem that I sadly will need to change to another processor if this is not going to be offered as a feature soon, and I would assume I'm not alone here. I have only ever used Square and I really don't want to change but not having such a useful feature in the post-COVID, digital business world is really confounding.

I appreciate you taking the time to drop this feature request for a notification whenever your customers save their card on file. This is an excellent request and would be beneficial for a variety of sellers. 

 

Since this isn't currently planned, our Product Team will keep an eye on it. If there are any developments, I will come back to update the status so you stay in the loop.

Thank you for dropping this feature request on our Ideate Board. I have moved it over to a thread on the Customer Directory since another seller is interested in this request too. 

 

Right now, this feature is not on the roadmap. This doesn't mean it will never be added in the future. Our Product Team will take a look at the request to assess it for the future. When more information becomes available, we will come back to update the status.
