hello, Im wondering if square will offer software to manage rental equipment? im currently using the square pos to save customer data, take payments and generate invoices whilst using another software to manage the calendar of rental equipment. is it possible to integrate this into square so I can see availability of each item and have it assigned to a certain. customer etc? thanks

@Dricha1988 It's a pretty specific user case you've got there. Square seems to be mainly built for standard retail along with the food & beverage industry. 

When they launched the Terminal this was one of the things they highlighted - it being perfect for just doing card payments alongside 'bespoke' solutions for specific industry like dry cleaners & others that track products through a process. 

With this in mine I don't think it would make it on to the production path for Square. 

I understand, with my rental software booqable im able to intergrate stripe as my payment gateway. The only reason I opt for square is the ability to add a photo to customers profile, are square looking into integration with booqable or not? thanks

@Dricha1988 Square have a full developer kit available so booqable would be able to add them as a payment gateway or within POS pretty easily. 

Square have already done the stuff on their side to allow developers to use the Square gateway online & also within POS apps 👍

Hi Tranguyen,

Has there been any update on the integration of such booking software since this thread?

Also wondering if Square has the ability to put a hold on a credit card (say $200) to cover any damages or ability to chargeback to credit card if the equipment is not returned?

Hey @HireRight, thanks for following up on this! We don't have any update to share right now but I'll be sure to bounce back once we have more information from the team.

 

Currently, Square doesn’t offer support for pre-authorising cards or putting a hold for a specific amount. We do offer the ability to request deposits using invoices which might help in this instance.
