Can you DISABLE: GOOGLE PAY from Square Invoice?

Can you DISABLE: GOOGLE PAY from Square Invoice?

I have had countless people fail to see the "OR" option when paying an invoice and they think they are suppose to use Google Pay. "G PAY"

Is there any possible way to disable Google Pay from an accepted method to remove this confusion for my customers? I do not believe I have had ANYONE use Google Pay when checking out, and I don't see that necessary in my invoices.

Thank you.

Re: Can you DISABLE: GOOGLE PAY from Square Invoice?

Hello @fordhamr, thanks for your patience here.

I checked in with the Invoices team and yes it is possible in future you might be able to control which payment options appear on a Square Invoice, i.e. remove Google Pay. I can't share a timeline for when that could be available, but I've added this post to the Invoices Feature Request board so we can keep track of it!

The Invoices team also reminded me that Google Pay option will only appear on Invoice if your customers is signed in to Google/or to Google Chrome when they open the invoice. I know it isn't a perfect workaround - but in theory you could manually share a link to an invoice with a customer and suggest that they sign out of Google, or use another browser app like FireFox, to open it. (Keep in mind they open it with Safari on an iPhone they'd might see the Apple Pay option.)

Thanks again for your feedback, we appreciate you!

@fordhamr I'm very sorry that your clients are confused by this option! It's at the very top of the invoice, so I do see where they are coming from. Do you know if your clients are mostly paying online from a computer, or are they using mobile devices to pay?

It's not possible to remove this payment type from an invoice at this time, but I'll escalate your request to the Invoices team.

@Helen As always, you all are so wonderful! Simply taking the time to listen, understand any/all concerns possible means a lot! ....just ONE of the MANY reason I will forever love/use Square!

Yes, I do think the fact that it's at the very top is what provides the confusion. In Squares defence, RIGHT below it  shows the
"OR" so I don't think this is end of the world that it cannot be removed (currently).

I would guess it's probably a 80%/20% split on how they are paid, 80 being mobile and 20 being computers. Is there a report/way for me to check this....you've got me curious now. 🙂 I think apart of the "problem" is that I do have a section of customer base that is slightly older/elderly people whom might not be as familiar with Google Pay/Apple Pay and sometimes stuggle with technology in general.

I figured I would pose the question, just to see if it was possible or not. I appreciate you escelating, but understand if its low priority/never turns into a removeable option. Happy to answer any additional questions you might have for me.

Thank you again for taking the time to read through this! 🙂

I'm delighted to help @fordhamr! Let me check in with the Invoices team and see if I can get more information for you on the ability to choose payment types for Invoices and reporting for how your clients are paying. Would the latter affect your sales/business in a particular way? (Again the more insight I can share the better!)

It might take me a couple of days to follow up so if you have any other thoughts or feedback to share in the meantime please don't hesitate to do so here.

Thanks for supporting Square!

Hey @Helen!

Definitely wouldnt affect my sales/business/marketing in ANY WAY. I am simply a nerd and enjoy numbers and metrics but in NO WAY does this change anything for my business. So truly, that can go unmentioned! 🙂

I appreciate the offer for additional thoughts/feedback in the meantime!

Thanks again for all that you do!

@Helen I appreciate the speedy feedback! Awesome to hear that there could potentially be some control over that someday! Additionally, even if workarounds for this and other requests are less-than-perfect, it's still wonderful that you all take the time to explore and share those! I am not sure this particular workaround will work to "remove" Google Pay icon in my case, as I think asking my less-technical customers to do as described will simply create more confusion, but again I do appreciate it! This has been very helpful, thank you!

I'm very happy that this has helped @fordhamr. An yep, I totally understand that the workaround won't work for everyone (sorry for the pun!)

Hope to see more posts from you here in the Community, we're always looking for ways to make improvements!

@Helen

Just seeing if there is any update on this. I too have customers confused by the G Pay option. To the point of needing to switch platforms.

Thanks

@kdh I feel like I had seen it, but I am not certain. Usually Square respond if they do release a fix for a feature request! Let me poke around while we wait for Square to respond!

Hi there, @kdh - thanks for checking in on this feature request. While we don't have any shareable update at this time, we will be sure to vocalize future changes here on this thread.

Thanks for your patience!
