Are there an methods to allow remote view/control (VNC-style) of a Square Register? I support a family member's small business remotely, and this would be a very handy feature! User acknowledgement would be an understandable requirement.
Another very handy feature would be a Register emulator. I would like to be able to see exactly how UI changes will look/behave, but we don't have the budget to purchase a testing terminal. Combine this with a Training Mode and this would be killer.

While it isn't currently possible to view/control the Square Register remotely, I can see how this could be useful for someone with your role in a business. This ability, as well as a Training Mode, would be considered Feature Requests at this time, and we'll be sure to update you here if something changes.
I'm not sure I understand what you would use an emulator for with the Square Register, as the hardware and software for the device are created and maintained in-house. I'm not an expert on things like emulators, so I could very well be missing something here!

As far as the emulator goes, personally, I would use it in conjunction with the Training Mode to either A) train people without having to purchase another register; B) beta test changes to layouts, modifiers, etc,...; or C) use it to modify the Register's grid.
For most of this, the easiest answer might actually to buy a cheap tablet - but a web-based of the actual register software or a thick software emulator would be a nice offering.
I want to bring attention to the Get Started guide as it should be helpful in training employees. We also have a great library of YouTube videos that are especially good for visual learners. I'm sure this family business already knows about our Support Center, but it contains a wealth of information!
In case the owner of the Square account doesn't know this, they can call us anytime - if they have questions about how to use Square, or any details about their account. We even have a dedicated hardware team to help with Square Register/Terminal questions. If the owner of the Square account wants to allow individual employees to call us and speak with us about account-specific details, they have the option to add a Full Access Team Member or Authorized Representative by following these steps.

We are a new user and can't believe there isn't a Training Mode or the ability to delete transactions made for training purposes. The lack of this feature may actually move us to a different Point Of Sale system. It's nearly 2021 Square - how long are you going to remain behind the 8-ball?
Just adding to the lengthy thread.... anything regarding training/test mode or deleting transaction? I know we can “return” the transactions, but this is sloppy and inelegant. Makes extra nonessential work for bookkeeping.
I see that your reply was three years ago. How is it possible that Square has not created a testing mode yet? I have four people that I need to train on the new system. Many of them have never used a POS. That is a lot of effort to refund every fake transaction, and it will still show up on the reports.
Hi @Rnthimble. I know it's tough to train and have to constantly refund transactions. There are a lot of sellers who set up "dummy accounts" with a separate email address for training. Sorry there's not a better solution yet.
