Option to Link Loyalty Program and Gift Cards?!

We created our loyalty program earlier this year and so far customers love it! One area that is frustrating, is the limitation of rewards options (discount on items, discount on sale, free item, etc.). We'd love to be able to run a promotion where after earning so many points, a customer could get a free gift card amount as a reward! As of right now, there is no easy way to do this, as gift cards are not counted as an item you can choose from. We'd love to be able to add this feature sometime soon!

Ahh, good idea. I suppose you can create a gift card item and add it to the list of free items.

However, you'll need to load the gift card and add a 100% discount to add value without collecting any money. 

But it's more convenient to add gift cards as a built in reward with Loyalty.

@JustinC  Yes for now that was our idea for a work around, load the gift cards & do the sale at 100% discount, then add those loaded cards as an item so I can link them as a reward.

I agree, it would be a lot more convenient, cleaner to set up, and probably better for our data if there was a native way to do this!

Solid idea tho. Hopefully we can implement more complex reward features with Loyalty in the near future.

@WWS I'd love to know more about why you would like to generate the gift card vs why they wouldn't just use it specifically from the loyalty? Can you tell me a bit more about how you see that working? 

For instance, the reward is $10 off, which functions as a gift card that the loyalty balance can hold. I just want to make sure I understand full scope what you are looking for when I speak to our product team.

You're also enrolled in our Loyalty/Cash Beta correct? This new integration allows your sellers to be prompted to download cash app where they will see all their loyalty balances for businesses that have launched them and triggers them to be used to generate return business. I want to make sure you're in our audience for that.

@kellyj the idea came to me after visiting Target, where they ran a special promo if you spent X amount on certain products you got a physical gift card as a reward.

Now we could definitely do as you suggested, and just give them the $10 Off reward to use in the future. That would 100% work as well! The reason I thought the physical gift card would be nice, is that we could market that as a gift to give to others for the holidays or as an easy stocking stuffer. (Also, something about saying "Get a FREE Gift Card" sounds more appealing than saying you get $$ off your next purchase, for some reason LOL)

We also are in a location that has a "technology timid" type of population, so our customers often tend to prefer more real-life traditional ways of doing things (if that makes sense).
