How can i send an Invoice for $0

I use invoices to keep track of whos is on what trip. I give trips to charities to auction so invoices for these customers are 0 but they need the information on the invoice and I need the invoice to record who's on each trip. How can I send and invoice for $0?

We don't currently offer the ability to send a $0 Invoice, so I don't have a workaround there unfortunately. 

I definitely see how that would be useful in your example however, and at the very least I'll share the use-case with our product liaison team. Thanks for your feedback!

I have a similar issue. I am comping something for a client. So I need to charge them $2.99 for the item and then apply a discount of 100%. We needed to redo something for a client, but I cannot do this, it keeps telling me the item must be over $1.00 to send my client an invoice showing we comped their redo. Any work around for this?

@Spenser @OffshoreNW @FLC - I thought of a workaround! Although a bit more manual, you could use Square's Invoice Templates to prepare and sent the bills outside of the Dashboard. This would maintain your business aesthetic, but give you more flexibility outside of our system.  Hope this helps!

We send out samples of wine with 100% dicount so the invoice is zero.  I need the inventory to reflect the samples being shipped.  I guess I could use square register but I like the look of the invoice for the client.

I'm also needing this feature for my business!

All of my customers pay through email invoicing since my business is virtual (no need for a register). Many times I allow customers to join for a free trial. I want to send them an invoice reflecting the normal price, and then adding the 100% discount. This will also automatically allow me to have this "free" customer in my database for future transactions with the info displaying that they recieved a free membership in the past.

PLEASE ALLOW THE $0.00 FEATURE!!!!

Thanks for sharing your interest in this @PillarStrength, I will send this request to the Invoices team!

In the meantime when you have a new customer you can create their profile from the Customer Directory of your Dashboard and add a note that they've been granted a free trial. When the free trial is over you can return to the Customer Directory, double check the details of their trial from your note and send them an Invoice. To send an Invoice from the Customer Directory click on the name of a customer, click the three box with three dots and click Send Invoice.

Sounds like some of you are not using the Square point of sale app but if you do you can just ring the sale as "cash" and send your customer a reciept.  This will take it out of inventory and allow you to send a "Receipt" with no charge.

I found a thread from a few years back, but it doesn't seem like this feature has been implemented. At my business, we give some clients full size samples of our products to try out. Ideally, I'd like to be able to set up an invoice as normal, and just 100% discount the price to bring it down to $0 but invoices under $1 are not allowed; by doing this through an invoice, our inventory is accounted for as well.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I frequently book tasting sessions for my wedding cake clients; often times the price is waived if they booked me at a local bridal show event.  I still want them to receive the invoice because it provides a good record for date of the tasting session, flavors to be provided, etc.  Unfortunately Square doesn't allow an invoice to be created with a zero balance, so I have to put in $1.00 then go back and make a payment of $1.00.  Square needs to remedy this!
