edited a prepaid appointment. How to charge the balance

I use prepayment appointments.  I had to edit an appointment increasing the cost.  The appointment now shows as partial paid instead of prepaid.  How do I charge the client the balance.  They have a credit card on file.

Hi @Double8! Welcome to the Seller Community. 🙂

I would try the steps below.

  1. Find your client's name on the calendar.
  2. Under Payment, toggle Prepay for this Appointment.
  3. Complete entering appointment details > click Save.
  4. Once finished, click Confirm and Charge to charge your customer’s card on file.

Keep in mind, this feature is not yet available in the Square Appointments app. Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account cards are not currently supported with Card on File.

I'm lost at step 2.  I dont see a payment section or a place to toggle prepayment off or on, just a note at the top showing $xx.xx Prepayment in green.

What happens when you click on "prepayment?"

Nothing. It’s not clickable.

Hi @Double8. After some research, it seems this is a feature request at the moment. Square Appointments doesn’t support editing a prepaid appointment. So, if you wish you change the charged amount, you can either cancel the appointment, and re-book it, or perform a separate charge to your client.

I appreciate your patience while we worked on this together!

Thanks, that is the work around I have been doing but was hoping there was a more legit way to do it.  I hope this feature gets added.  I run into the same issue when a gift card is used and there isnt enough on the card to cover the full amount due.  actually I dont even think it allows me to take a gift card for an appointment.
