The title of this thread has been edited from the original: no usb cash drawers found
Just removed the old Square system and successfully set up the Square terminal, but cash drawer does not work.
14-in. Printer-Driven Cash DrawerAPG VP320-1416 + APG CD-014A
I connected the cable of the drawer to the accessory hub but the error message reads "No USB cash drawers found"
The drawer you mention cannot be hooked up directly to the Square terminal (or Square stand or Square Register). It needs to be hooked up to a printer as the name implies because it is triggered to open by the printer and is not connected via USB for a signal over USB to trigger it.
The drawer will work if it remains hooked up to the printer you have been using, it just won't connect directly.

Then how can I connect the Square terminal to old printer? The only thing that I need is automatic opening of the drawer when I get a cash transaction.
It depends on the type of printer you have. If it’s a USB printer, it plugs right into the hub. If it’s an Ethernet printer you need to plug it into your router and add it in the settings section of your POS app.
how do I add it to the settings section of POS app? I don't see the option.. mine is ethernet
Are you unable to see Cash Drawers from Settings > Hardware? What POS device and drawer connection do you have? @armadillowell
The cash drawer has a RJ11 connection to the Star printer port for "Cash Drwr/ Buzzer. Error message still says "no USB cash drawer". This is what Square sent with the Android Register system.
I needed to download the Android file transfer utility. Everything works great.
How did you do this? download the Android file transfer utility
I’m using Square Register and having the same issue. Thank you.

I can't find the app. What is it called exactly?
Hey @bels and welcome to the Community.
I'm not sure what you mean. The Point of Sale app?
Someone had the same issue but was able to rectify it by downloading the Android File Transfer Utility, according to their comment.
I recently purchased the Square Register with a printer-driven cash drawer. When I test the cash drawer with the printer only, it works. But, when I process cash payments on Square, it doesn't automatically open. It's connected properly. There's only one cable on the cash drawer and I've plugged that into the printer.
Im having the same issue with the cash drawer. Plugged it into the printer but doesn't show up in the settings on Register. I've just opened a new retail shop and not sure how to do cash drawer starting cash for the day if I can't get the register to work with cash drawer?
Hey @BlackOctoMerch,
Thanks for writing in, and welcome to the seller community 👋
I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating experience with your printer and cash drawer. It sounds like you have a printer driven cash drawer. Here's some troubleshooting steps to try:
Create an active Printer Station for your receipt printer. Head to Settings > Hardware > Printers > Create Printer Station if you haven't already.
If you already have an active Printer Station, check that at least one toggle is active under the Print from this device.
Check that your interface cable is properly connected to both your printer and cash drawer. Try unplugging and reconnecting both sides of the cable and switching which device each side of the interface cable is connected to.
Please let us know how you go!
