UPC/EAN modified with a 2 or 5 digit extension or supplemental barcode
I own a collectibles shop that sells items such as comic books and magazines. Often the comic books have variations from the original cover that are annotated on the barcode by the addition of supplemental figures on the backend of the SKU (usually five digits). How can I use these digits when scanning barcodes? The linked article describes the barcodes that I am speaking of. Thank you.

I just reached out to support with this same question. I would love to be able to check out customers by scanning the book, track the individual issues in inventory, and run reports on the data but without being able to include the data from the supplemental UPC code it's almost a show stopper. Were you ever able to get anywhere with this?
Thanks!

I was not. What I ended up doing was creating variations of the title as though they were different shirt sizes or colors and selecting them when they are rung up. It would be beneficial if there were pictures of the variations to choose from on the POS, but there are not. So, make sure that the variant name is useful in determining which one it is. I have been using the supplemental UPC as the variant name so I can verify it against what I am holding. It is not optimal but does the trick until something better comes along. I hope this helps!
