I want to track bulk inventory - like I receive 50 pounds of a product, and then sell it in pre-weighed 5oz bags and 1 lb bags, and each of those sizes sold subtracts the corresponding weight from the original 50lb inventory. Is this possible?
Hey! Thanks for reaching out! This is a great question. At this time, you can only sell the items in the weight, or unit, that you receive them in. So, if you receive 50 pounds of a product, you will need to sell them in pounds too. So, 5 ounces of a product would need to be sold in 0.31 pounds to account for the inventory deduction.
It's currently a feature request to sell a product in a unit that it was not received in, but I will be sure to pass this along to our Development Team.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you again.
Thanks, that answers part of my question. However I'm more asking if I can sell in *pre-weighed* increments and deduct from the same inventory. I want to offer .5 pound and 1 pound options (and only those two choices) of say, candy or rice - online and have each of those items purchased deduct the correct amount from the bulk inventory (say, 50 pounds total, shared between the two variants).
Great question! Unfortunately, no, that is also not possible. The variants will track stock separately from each other, so it would still be better to track the items within the one master item.
I hope that makes sense and please let me know if I need to answer anything else. 🙂
