Test Payment with Test Credit Cards on API
Will I be charged if I make a test payment using a "test" credit card number (see article here about using test card numbers). Anyone from Square: can you verify that I won't be charged the regular transaction fee (via an online purchase on my website) if I use a test credit card number? Thanks.

Hi @aladdin and welcome to the Community!
Unless you had some free processing on your account, it will charge the transactional fee per transaction but if it's a test credit card number, you wouldn't be charged for it since it's not your card being charged if that makes sense.

Hi ashc and thank you for the welcome! So, just to clarify...and to make sure I understand you correctly....if I use the test credit card #, it will in fact register a fee, but I will be re-imbursed for it, right? Or, are you saying that the fee won't even register in the first place since it's a test #?

@aladdin Correct! The fee won't take in the first place so you won't have to worry about any charges or being reimbursed for the fee.

@ashc: hi again. I tried to use the test credit card # to "purchase" an item on my website, but when I entered the information and clicked "pay", it gave me an error message that read, "
- Square Transaction Failed: INVALID_CARD". I used the following card test #'s:
- card# 4111 1111 1111 1111
- exp date 12/21
- cvv 111
Also, the web page (see here) says I need to have a valid postal code, so I used 78260. Why won't this test # work? Please help!

Did you happen to use 94103 as your zip code? It looks like you just put in a "valid zip" but not the one suggest? Does that help the payment process?

Initially, I used a postal code near me, but then I just tried 94103 (per your suggestion)....and it still gives me the same error. I noticed it says to use a non-sequential CVV...so 111 would work. Not sure, then, why this isn't working! (pulling my hair out)

I did notice that the article mentions something about "your sandbox account comes with a collection of mock locations."......which seems to imply that one needs a sandbox account to do this testing. I currently don't have a sandbox account....do I need to get one for this to work?

Disregard thread...problem solved. I just used my own card to test it out.

Hey there, @SweetflourLLC -
Welcome to the Community.
There isn't an option to do a test payment on the Square side of the integration. Whenever sellers are testing payments, I usually recommend running their own card for $1 to ensure payments are working.
This payment will show up in your transaction history, so you wouldn't be able to move it.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
