Refunding a cash transaction, onto a credit card .

I have a guest that made a purchase and paid with cash. They are requesting a refund. However, they  do you not want it back in cash. They would like the transaction returned to a credit card. Can this be done on Square?

I believe you can do this. If you are able to bring up the transaction, either by searching the transaction number or by customer, I think you can click on the transaction and you'll see that it was paid by card. Then you can refund even partially by specific item and choose to go back on the card they used.

You can NOT return a cash sale onto a credit card as there is not a credit card associated with the transaction.  The only ways to refund it is by cash or if you have Square gift cards you can put the balance onto a Gift Card.
