QR codes for drop-in class

I need to be able to allow drop-in students at my yoga class to pay using their phones. I tried to create a QR code and had one of my regulars test it last Thursday.  From her end, it looked like it went through cleanly. It has not shown up on my transactions as of today, Monday. 

 

I had no trouble creating a QR code for my class but I worried because the creator process forced me to put in a specific date. I had hoped to have a printed QR code that could be used for any class. I picked May 5 because that is when I plan to start using the code. I suspect this means that my student paid for this coming Thursday instead of last Thursday and that it will not work for future classes. If so, that means that my website link will also only work on that specific day. Has anyone else dealt with this?

 

What can I do to fix this?

Hello @YoginiMN thanks for your post. You should be able to create an "item" that is not tied to any specific date and use that to collect a payment. For example, your new item could be called "yoga class" with a certain price. See this link for info about creating an item and generating a QR code.

 

Do you remember at what point you were prompted to pick a specific date? Did you use your Square Dashboard > Create Item to generate your QR Code?

It was in the "Set up your link" page right after the pre-populated information about the class (name, cost, address). It even plugged a date in (from last year). When I just left the date, the system refused to let me continue so I plugged in a future date. It also asked for an end date (where it had already plugged in that date from last year).

 

Did you use your Square Dashboard > Create Item to generate your QR Code?

 

No. I was working from "Online Checkout" which pulled the info from my item list.
