My customer gave me her card number over the phone. She read it to me 5 times. The number I wrote down is the same she is telling me but it won't charge on my square. What's the deal?? When I enter the last number it turns red like its not the right number. How do I fix this or what is the problem?

@VanKalkerFarms - Great tip. 👍
@Flowergirl79 - If any of the credit card information entered via manual entry is invalid, the credit card numbers will turn red and your device may vibrate. This is usually due to a typo, so I'd recommend verifying the payment card details with your customer again. It is most likely a innocent mistake.
You’ll also want to make sure the time, date, and year on your device are set correctly. If your device is set to the wrong calendar, it may confuse the current year and result in declined cards.

A customer has called me with her credit card. She says it is a mastercard....with 16 numbers. When i enter it, Square is asking for 1 more number before it will go to the expiration date. She says the card does not have another number. What is wrong?

@fc I've merged your post in to this thread, check out Sean's tips above on entering card information to the app. It would be worth calling your customer back and asking her to confirm her card information again!

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: I have a mastercard with 16 digits. However, when I enter it, Square still wants 3 more numbers?
I am trying to enter a card number manually. it is a 16 digit Mastercard. However, once I enter all 16 digits, Square wants 3 more numbers to make the card # complete? I have ran other payments today and have had no issue. Just with this one card number. Any ideas?

@Tabbetha I'm adding your post to this thread where other sellers have run into this The card number has to be entered exactly - if there are any typos you'll run into issues like this or the numbers will turn red and the app will 'vibrate' so you can't proceed.
You'll need to contact your customer to confirm their card details if you haven't already!
